fun "facts" about your fave CNN personalities!
Fri Aug 08, 2008 at 08:17:55 AM PDT
I've been watching CNN lately, and I've discovered something interesting: they've apparently started reporting complete bullshit! If a rumor pops up, they have to get it on the air as soon as possible. Some whackjob out there on some blog claims that Barak Obama might consider making Ice Cube his veep, and the next thing you know, there's Campbell Brown going, "What would the implications be of Ice Cube being the Vice-President? Would this mean there were no more Fridays films? Would we have to peel Iran's cap back? And could Flavor Flav become the ambassador to Germany? We'll be back to discuss it with our panel in a moment!"
"She Won't Go Easy": interesting article by Camille Paglia
Wed May 14, 2008 at 11:28:03 AM PDT
I ran across this article today and found some interesting stuff in it. I've been kind of concerned with the "feminist" reaction to Hillary lately; I've seen a lot of supposed "feminists" claiming they'll vote for McCain instead of Obama, or not vote at all, and this seems so absolutely counterproductive to the whole movement that I've been having to rethink things. I'm a guy, but Paglia touches on that and other things. I don't agree with all she says, but I'll get into that as we go.
A waste of perfectly good suspense

I ran across this article by Elizabeth Drew that made some points I've been thinking about over the past few months. She articulated them much better than I can, so I figured I'd pass the link along.
First up, I'm not calling on Hillary to drop out of the race. If she wants to run, even on the slimmest of chances, that's within her right as part of the the Democratic process. And she does have a lot of loyal supporters who'd feel let down if she bailed while there was still any hope at all, and she owes something to them. So, I'm not faulting her for that.
I do, however, think it's a futile exercise, and people are getting teased with false hopes... for reasons Drew makes clear.
Huckamania is running wild... again?
Wed Apr 09, 2008 at 01:19:08 PM PDT
This is interesting... at least potentially: Mike Huckabee is planning something! Something that's apparently significant enough to get the Huckamaniacs counting down the minutes and hours and seconds until it happens!
Please roll your eyes to yourself and indulge me as I engage in some totally-uninformed, easily-ridiculed, and wildly-irresponsible speculation.
Hillary breaking her word on going after pledged delegates?
Mon Mar 10, 2008 at 09:00:52 AM PDT
A while back we got reports that Hillary was going to go after pledged delegates. I was pretty ticked off about that, because those are delegates that actually voted for by the people, and, as such, they should be sacrosanct in a democracy. They represent the votes of the citizenry, and therefore should be hands off.
I'm not a Clinton supporter, but I was still very relieved when it was reported that this would NOT be the case. Hillary would not be trying to flip pledged delegates and therefore - in my eyes - subvert Democracy. Since I planned to vote for her if Obama didn't get the nod, I was glad she wasn't that ruthless.
The most bestest 2008 Democratic candidate EVER!

I've figured it all out! I have the answer! Follow me below the fold and hear my chattering monkeywisdom as I spell it all out and save the world... or, at least the Democratic part of it, which is the only part I want to keep breeding, anyway.
Who says the stuff Bush says people say?!?

The religious right worships Bizarro Jesus
Thu May 03, 2007 at 10:12:37 AM PDT
I finally figured it out. A conversation between a couple of Dobsonite co-workers yesterday cleared it up for me. What they were discussing leads inevitably to only one possible conclusion:
There's got to be a Bizarro Jesus, and that's the one that the religious right is worshiping.
John Doe (a.k.a. Michelle Malkin) gets a Chris Kelly Smackdown
Fri Mar 30, 2007 at 01:29:39 PM PDT
A friend of mine sent me a link to this, and it's beeeeaaaautiful.
Chris Kelly fits a chinstrap to Michelle Malkin's ass and hands it back to her. She's trying to promote some kind of neo-fascist "John Doe" movement and, apparently, return us to the glory days of McCarthyism.
And it was the best Broadcasters' Dinner ever!

The best ever would have to be the Colbert one, but the one I'm talking about is theorhetical and exists only in the confines of my obnoxious little mind.
I didn't see the real one, but I've read the highlights. It sounds pretty funny, and I have to give Bush's writer credit for coming up with some good stuff, and I even have to give Bush credit for being a good sport enough to deliver them. It does take some guts to make jokes like the following about yourself...
"A year ago my approval rating was in the 30s, my nominee for the Supreme Court had just withdrawn, and my vice president had shot someone. Ah, those were the good ol' days."
or declaring that his memoirs would be a pop-up book. That's funny, and I give Bush props for that much.
Is that enough being nice to him to create the illusion that I'm fair and balanced? Good! Now let's let the savagery begin!
