How to beat Hillary Clinton

Sun Feb 17, 2008 at 07:54:59 PM PDT

So you want to be President, but you're facing someone who's a better candidate for the position. She's smart, inspiring, and has more experience than you. She's the best choice to lead this country out of the mess Bush created.

But don't despair. You can still win. Because you speak the truth... no, wait, your tongue is dipped in unvarnished truth... no, no, you ARE the truth. You just have to frame the discussion in your terms.

Hillary's "You and I" versus the Obama "We"

Sat Feb 16, 2008 at 07:16:44 PM PDT

Much has been made lately of the predominance of the pronoun "we" in Barack Obama’s rhetoric.  Hillary Clinton, by contrast, is said to prefer the pronoun "I."  The standard interpretation of this is that Obama’s "we" demonstrates a sort of altruism and belief in unity, whereas Clinton’s "I" betrays an underlying egotism on her part.  However, this diary will show that Clinton’s campaign message is a "you and I" message, rather than just an "I" message.  In addition, this diary will argue that Clinton’s "you and I" discourse is preferable to Obama’s "we" discourse.
