Hinderaker: When soldiers die in Iraq, Afghanistan it doesn't count

Tue May 27, 2008 at 12:58:57 PM PDT

John Hinderaker is making the case that we're safer because of Bush's policies, arguing that there hasn't been an attack against American interests anywhere in the world since 2004.

But, of course, this argument depends on not counting attacks on Americans in Iraq and Afghanistan. Read his post here:

I wanted to get the Kossite community on this because I don't think what he's saying is true even on the narrow terms he's using.

Obama will fall behind McCain -- for a while

Mon May 19, 2008 at 11:57:31 AM PDT

I think Kossaks should prepare themselves for a period in which Obama falls behind McCain in the polls and he doesn't seem to be getting his message out there the way we would wish. I expect this is true because of something I've noticed about Obama's way of running his campaign. Occassionally, he likes to play rope-a-dope.

Obama's substantial legislative record

Sat Apr 19, 2008 at 09:58:08 AM PDT

Since Hillary supporters continue to push this nonsense that Obama is all talk and no action and that his legislative record is thin or manufactured, I thought it would be helpful to provide the link to the Obama campaign's listing of his record on their fact check site.

Notice that the lobbying reform bill that he got passed in Illinois was passed in the 1990s and the Earned Income Tax Credit bill he sponsored and which passed was a bill passed around the year 2000. His bill on videotaping of confessions was passed in 2003.

Ban ABC news from Dem convention

Wed Apr 16, 2008 at 09:01:25 PM PDT

By their behavior tonight, ABC has shown they've decided to take sides in this election.

Since they've chosen not to be neutral (and since they haven't chosen our side, but unlike Fox are still seen as credible), they don't need to come to OUR convention.

Let's petition Howard Dean and the DNC to revoke ABC's press privileges.

Obama's clear-eyed patriotism

Sat Mar 22, 2008 at 11:02:59 AM PDT

One of the issues in the Wright flap that hasn't gotten much attention but which is key is Obama's patriotism or the implied suggestion that he doesn't have any.

And while Obama didn't address this specifically, I think his actions and words tell us something. He stood by his friend Wright and the black community as a whole despite the fact that he knows his friend and his community include views he finds abhorrent.

Now apply that to America. Doesn't this reassure us that all the anti-American sentiment in the world -- even if there's truth in it given some of our actions in the past -- won't sway Obama's patriotism because he is someone who judges people and communities as a whole and once he judges them worth his loyalty despite their flaws, doesn't waver from that. Isn't that a more true patriotism than the Right's insistence that we love America by pretending she's perfect? Their patriotism is an infatuation, not love.
